The FCWI

The Federal Commission for Women’s Issues (FCWI) is a permanent extra-parliamentary commission advising the government on gender equality issues. Since 1976 it has been analysing social trends, developing recommendations, establishing strategic guidelines and promoting dialogue between politics, authorities and civil society.

Strategic guidelines and mandate

The FCWI advises the Confederation on gender equality issues. It analyses social trends, develops recommendations, and encourages the dialogue between politics, the public administration and civil society. The commission sets its own strategic priorities for each legislative period.

Commission and members of the FCWI 

The commission is comprised of 20 specialists from women’s associations, social partnerships and academia as well as other established experts concerned with gender equality and women’s issues.

Office

The FCWI team is comprised of management and staff who coordinate the commission’s work, putting its decisions into practice and ensuring the effective implementation of its projects and communications.
